The Devonshire is Vispring's entry point into the hand-crafted range, built entirely on British wool with three distinct layers, each delivering a different purpose from surface to core. The ticking is woven from wool and viscose, keeping the cover soft against the skin while the viscose adds durability for decades of use. Beneath it, a layer of hand-teased Devonshire fleece wool provides immediate give—teasing opens the fibres so air moves freely through them to moderate temperature through the night rather than trapping it. A further layer of British fleece wool adds depth and resilience, helping the surface resist uneven compression over time.
The spring system features a single tier of 1,716 hand-nested, calico-pocketed Vanadium steel coils in a King size, with each spring in its own calico pocket to respond to weight independently for optimal support. Vanadium steel maintains tension longer than standard carbon steel, a characteristic applied across the range. The Devonshire is available in Soft, Medium, Firm, and Extra Firm tensions, and King sizes can be split at the centre for partners with different preferences. Two rows of hand side-stitching secure the border coils, ensuring a firm, consistent sleeping surface to the very edge, while hand-tufting with felt washers anchors fillings in place to prevent lateral shifts over years of use.
